The Act to amend the Professional Code and other legislative provisions as regards the health sector, which took in effect on January 30, 2003, amended eight other acts, including the Nurses Act. The Act, often referred to as "Bill 90," clearly acknowledges the expertise and central role of nurses in health care. This short guide explains some of the repercussions of these legislative changes for the nursing profession: nurses’ field of practice, the 14 reserved activities, therapeutic nursing plans, specialized nurse practitioners, foot care, wound care, etc.
