Correction of examination

The examination is corrected digitally. Each answer sheet is digitized twice and the data are compared to ensure the quality of the digitization.

Determining the pass mark

To determine the pass mark, the Angoff Method, which relies on an expert group of teachers and professors, is used. This is a recognized evaluation method, which makes it possible to take the level of difficulty of the examination into account. For distribution purposes, the pass mark is set at 55%.

Posting of results

Results are posted online in the reserved section of the website several weeks after the exam. An email is sent to each candidate the day the results are posted online. All results are available on the same day.

Next steps

Once you pass the exam, you need to obtain your permit and be entered on the Roll before you can practise as a nurse.

If you fail the exam, please see the Failure on the examination page.

Results

The questions on the exam have been entirely multiple-choice since September 2018.

Graduates from outside Canada

Graduates from outside Canada are those who have completed their academic education outside Canada. This category includes graduates with a broad range of professional experience.

The professional integration of immigrants presents many challenges, notably related to culture and to the mastery of linguistic aspects related to the practice of nursing in Quebec. These challenges are reflected in the success rates on the exam.

In order to protect the public, the Examination Committee pays particular attention to the vocabulary used in the clinical situations on the exam so that the linguistic aspects that are an integral part of the practice of nursing fully assess the skills needed in professional practice.
